"I usually paint a series of related paintings before I move on to another idea. One thought or project is built upon another. Every painting I paint is an experiment, an exploration of some idea, form or color. Over the years I have painted figures and still life but recently have become interested in landscapes, especially the big vistas of the American West. I do small plein air paintings and large canvases in my studio. This has led me to consider the creation of an atmosphere or feeling by the grouping of paintings into an installation, the idea I am exploring at the moment. However, I still love the painting of an individual canvas and the one of most important things to me will always be individual expression.
All ideas, all work done by an individual artist are interconnected, whether it be paintings of people, still life's, landscapes, sculpture or video. An artist can take one idea and apply it to a number of mediums and/or subject matters, with different but connected results. They are all a part of the artist's creative process, her/his own personal vision, a continuance of the path on which the artist is traveling."
